A content of glycidyl fatty acid esters, calculated as glycidol, of 2343 +/- 703 μg/kg fat was detected in the entire homogenised product. There are currently no legally prescribed maximum levels for the above-mentioned substances in the food category snack products. Nevertheless, according to Article 2(1) in conjunction with Annex 1, Nos. 5.3 and 5.4 of Regulation (EU) No. 2023/915, a maximum level of 1000 μg of glycidyl fatty acid esters, calculated as free glycidol, per kg of vegetable fat/oil applies in the EU. The maximum levels for glycidol are clearly exceeded in the total fat of the product in question, even taking into account the expanded measurement uncertainty.
