- Puede producirse una fuga de hidrógeno entre la cubierta exterior del depósito y el revestimiento protector. Si los sensores de hidrógeno del vehículo detectan la fuga durante la conducción, el sistema de pilas de combustible se apagará. A continuación, el vehículo solo funcionará en modo eléctrico (batería), con un alcance muy limitado de unos 30 km y sin capacidad para recargar hidrógeno a bordo. Si el vehículo está estacionado, los sensores de hidrógeno no funcionan. En este caso, el hidrógeno podría acumularse debajo del vehículo, lo que aumenta el riesgo de que el hidrógeno se incendie.
