- A low quality cog (not hardened) has been installed in the chain drive. Under stress, it can break, hence the chain drive may no longer be able hold the smoke/heat extraction valve/window, and in the absence of other safety mechanisms installed, the valve/window can fall onto bystanders and injure them. The product does not comply with the Construction Products Regulation nor with the requirements of the General Product Safety Directive nor with the European standard EN 12101-2.
