- A food supplement containing EGCG is offered for sale on a Dutch webshop. The mandatory labelling information for EGCG (epigallocatechin-3-gallate from green tea extracts) is not visible on the webshop nor on the available images of the product label. In accordance with Regulation (EU) 2022/2340, the label must include a warning that a daily intake of 800 mg or more of EGCG must not be consumed, and must indicate the amount of EGCG per portion of the food. This information is missing. Furthermore, the label must also include the following warnings: • “Should not be consumed if you are consuming other products containing green tea on the same day.” • “Should not be consumed by children under 18 years of age.” • “Should not be consumed on an empty stomach.” These warnings are also missing. In addition, non-authorised health claims relating to berberine were identified on another product page of the same webshop. Screenshots are provided in the attachment.
