/// The effects of the plant Heimia ssp. (Heimien) are described among other things as follows: A drink prepared from the plant is said to have a mild psychotomimetic effect; the leaves and stems have diaphoretic, diuretic, purgative and antisyphilitic properties. Cryogenin has shown antispasmodic and vasodilatory effects in animal experiments. The plant is considered a poisonous drug; psychoactive, stimulating, euphoric sound and visual hallucinations. Heimia ssp. (Heimien) is listed in the BVL and federal states' list of substances (Stoffliste des BVL und der Bundesländer) in category A (substances not recommended for use as food or food ingredients due to known risks). The sample is therefore assessed as unsafe within the meaning of Article 14(1) of Regulation (EC) No 178/2002.
