Iodine intake via algae should not exceed 200 μg iodine per day. Dried algae products with an iodine content of 20 mg/kg dry matter or more (based on a consumption of 10 g/day) are likely to be harmful to health for reasons of preventive health protection (Art. 14(2)(a) of Regulation (EC) No. 178/2002).
