The product contains mitragynine, an active ingredient in the leaves of the kratom tree (Mitragyna speciosa), which has an immediate effect on the consumer's health due to its psychoactive effect and a cumulative toxic effect due to its addictive, neurotoxic and liver and kidney damaging effects. There is also a risk that children will confuse the product with conventional fruit gums. Even if children are unlikely to buy the product, carelessness on the part of adult users could allow it to get into their hands and cause damage to the health of this particularly sensitive and vulnerable population group.
