The content of mineral oil aromatic hydrocarbons (MOAH), carcinogenic and genotoxic contaminants, measured in the olive pomace oil sample (45.4+- 13.7 mg/kg) is extremely high in relation to : - the level defined in the declaration of the Standing Committee on Plants, Animals, Foodstuffs and Animal Feed (CPVADAAA) - ‘Novel foods and toxicological safety of the food chain’ section of 21 April 2022, as supplemented on 19 October 2022 (2 mg/kg for foods containing more than 50% fat). - the regulatory maximum level for MOAH (10 mg/kg), which should apply to olive-pomace oils placed on the market from 1 January 2028.
