In several postal packages delivered to Belgium, tea containing Coix Lacryma-jobi (Coix seeds = Job’s Tears) were found by our border control post at the airport. According to information available to Member States competent authorities this product was used only as or in food supplements before 15 May 1997. Any other food uses of this product must be authorized pursuant to the Novel Food Regulation. Herbal tea is not considered as a food supplement.
