Risk and analytical results
- hazardObserved
- Several workout supplements with high content of caffeine (401 mg per single dose) were identified on the Dutch web shop “bullishnutrition.nl”. The caffeine contents of these food supplements exceed the Belgian allowed maximal limit of 80 mg for food supplements and 320 mg/l for drinks. The pre-workout supplements also exceed EFSA’s recommendation for single and daily caffeine consumption, which is 200 mg per single dose and 400 mg per daily dose. In addition, we do not find the mention “High caffeine content” on the label nor on the web shop, as prescribed in point 4.1 of Annex III to Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the provision of food information to consumers.
