Orientation values of MOSH and MOAH are exceeded in the investigated sample. Due to the large number of possible MOAH compounds and unclear entry pathways, which contribute to the diversification of MOAH compounds, a conclusive toxicological assessment of this class of compounds is currently not possible. Also, no limit values can be derived for substances suspected of causing cancer, up to which a foodstuff is harmless and thus safe. Against this background and because the consumer bears the sole risk of MOAH suspected of causing cancer, the BfR therefore calls for the greatest possible minimisation (ALARA) for this fraction.
