Oryzaephilus surinamensis non è in grado di attaccare i prodotti in campo L’adulto è un buon camminatore e solo raramente si alza in volo. Essendo le confezioni chiuse ed integre è verosimile che l’infestazione sia avvenuta prima del confezionamento. Inoltre essendo presenti tutti gli stadi dell’insetto adulti di diverse età, larve, pupe ed esuvie larvali, è probabile che l’insetto abbia completato almeno un ciclo di sviluppo all’interno delle confezioni.
