Using current scientific advice (EFSA, 2018) where toxicological reference values were not set for dimethoate and omethoate. (EU, 2019 toxicological reference values not set]. The dimethoate component (indicative) of 50% of a hypothetical toxicological reference value for short term exposure of 0.0001 mg/kg bw/day for dimethoate (EFSA, 2018); omethoate component (indicative) of 200% of a hypothetical toxicological reference value for short term exposure of 0.0001 mg/kg bw/day for dimethoate (EFSA, 2018)- the residue of omethoate is a more serious risk compared to the dimethoate residue (based on residue level being four-fold higher and also as it is more potently toxic and an in vivo mutagen).
