Risk and analytical results

hazardObserved
For beans with pods (hyacinth beans) Sample ID 5835/2019 (residue of dimethoate of 0.06 mg/kg and residue of 0.02 mg/kg omethoate), the highest intake of dimethoate alone for the critical consumer group infants, is 301 % of an indicative value for a hypothetical toxicological reference value for short term exposure of 0.0001 mg/kg bw/day for dimethoate (EFSA, 2018); due to further uncertainty regarding the potential for genotoxicity, an ARfD was not specifically set (EU, 2019). The risk assessment for omethoate is more worst case compared to that for dimethoate as omethoate is a more potent AChE inhibitor than dimethoate and also has genotoxic (mutagenic) potential. An ARfD was also not set for omethoate (EU, 2019).
