Risk and measures
- Risk or hazard
- Sampling and evaluation by Health Canada’s Radiation Protection Bureau has determined that this product measures inaccurate radon levels and likely poses a danger to human health or safety. Radon is a radioactive gas that comes from the breakdown of uranium in soil and rock. It is invisible, odourless and tasteless. When radon is released from the ground into the outdoor air, it is diluted and is not a concern. However, in enclosed spaces, like homes, it can accumulate to high levels and become a risk to the health of you and your family. Long term exposure to radon gas is the second leading cause of lung cancer in Canada, after smoking. The Canadian guideline level for radon in indoor air is 200 Becquerel per cubic meter (Bq/m3). As of May 12, 2025, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada.
