Risk or hazard
The product contains a genus of mold Penicillium. Individuals with weakened immune systems, who suffer from a pre-existing health condition, or who belong to another sensitive group may be at risk of allergic reactions and related symptoms if exposed. If Penicillium is introduced into the eye, eye infections may occur. As of January 20, 2020, the company has received no reports of incidents in Canada, and no reports of injury.
Recommendations
Consumers should immediately stop using Brilliant Brow Gel and discard the product immediately. For more information, consumers may contact Beautycounter at 1-888-701-9899 (and press "3" to speak with an Associate) Monday to Friday, 6:00am to 6:00pm PST. Please note that, in addition to the requirements of the Cosmetic Regulations, the Food and Drugs Act (FDA) prohibits the sale of cosmetics that are either made with hazardous substances, or under unsanitary conditions, to users in Canada. Health Canada would like to remind Canadians to report any health or safety incidents related to the use of this product or any other consumer product or cosmetic by filling out the Consumer Product Incident Report Form.
