- The back plate on the catcher's helmet does not meet the safety standard for athletic equipment and can fail to protect the player, posing a risk of head injury to the user. As of January 29, 2020, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada or the United States.
- Recommendations
- Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled catcher’s helmets and contact Rawlings to receive a free replacement back plate for head sizes 7.5 and below or a full refund for head sizes above 7.5. For more information, consumers may contact Rawlings Sporting Goods Company by telephone toll-free at 1-800-741-7205 Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., by email or visit the company's website. Consumers may view the release by the US CPSC on the Commission's website. Please note that the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits recalled products from being redistributed, sold or even given away in Canada. Health Canada would like to remind Canadians to report any health or safety incidents related to the use of this product or any other consumer product or cosmetic by filling out the Consumer Product Incident Report Form.
