Risk and measures

Risk or hazard
The stopper on affected products does not have a pressure release valve. Pressure may build up inside the container and may cause the stopper beneath the lid to eject forcefully when opened. Risk of serious injury from impact and lacerations if the affected stopper ejects while in use. Incidents have occurred in the United States resulting in injury, including 3 reports of permanent vision loss after being struck in the eye.
Recommendations
Stop using affected products immediately. Check the underside of the stopper to see if it has a pressure relief feature. If the stopper does not have a pressure relief feature on the base, it is an affected product. The stopper is located beneath the stainless-steel lid. Contact Thermos to arrange a replacement stopper (expected to be available by July 2026). Consumers will need to provide their name, contact details, postal address and a photo of the underside of their affected stopper. When replacement stoppers are available, Thermos will ask consumers to safely dispose of the affected stopper and send a replacement stopper for each affected product at no cost, together with installation instructions. Do not use the affected product until the replacement stopper has been installed. Contact Thermos if you have any further questions or require assistance with the recall.
