- Due to a manufacturing defect, the camshaft decompressor mechanism in the engine can malfunction. In models without an electric starter this excessive force may be required to pull the starter rope to start the engine. In the model with an electric starter the electric starter may fail to start the motor. There is a risk of a strain injury from kickback of the starter rope because of high compression within the engine.

- Consumers should stop using affected lawn mowers immediately and contact the nearest Authorized Honda Power Equipment Dealer to arrange for their lawn mower to be repaired, free of charge.
