We received a consumer complaint in Belgium regarding the product Sense Chocolate Tab. The consumer reported that the original “best before” date printed on the packaging had been covered with a sticker showing a date one year later than the underlying date. This raises concerns about possible date manipulation. In addition, our assessment shows that the product contains Epimedium as an ingredient. The type of Epimedium used is not specified, but several species are considered non-authorised Novel Food ingredient. According to information available to Member States’ competent authorities, Epimedium has not been consumed to a significant degree within the EU before 15 May 1997.
